New instrument for weighted school funding in the city of Bremen
Schools in Bremen receive additional funds according to an indicator of challenges they face. However, the indicator is based on residential information only and does not capture challenges in all dimensions, like integration of immigrant students and students with special educational needs. That is why the city of Bremen decided to adjust the indicator. In doing so, theoretical and methodological aspects have to be taken into account. A team of school principals, education administrators and the statistical office approached WIB for consulting.
