School Success of Refugees and Forced Migrants

Project outline

There is a lack of empirical research regarding school success, as measured by achievement of a school leaving certificate, for refugees in Germany. This project will develop approaches for identifying refugees within school statistics and will estimate school success using official school statistics of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), which have the advantage of providing information on the entire population of students in NRW. The findings will be further differentiated by region, e.g., administrative districts and independent cities.
